iheed AI in Healthcare (Postgraduate Award)

Artificial Intelligence is developing quickly, and it can be challenging to keep up to date with the latest developments and applications. iheed's AI in Healthcare course (validated by the University of Warwick) is designed to give you clear, practical knowledge about AI and how it is used in healthcare today, as well as giving you the tools to evaluate what may come in the future.

In this AI in Healthcare programme, you will gain a solid foundation in key concepts, guiding principles, and useful frameworks to support the evaluation and responsible use of AI tools. Whether your goal is to stay informed or to explore how AI might be applied in your professional setting, this course offers the knowledge and skills to support your journey. You will leave the programme with a proposal for implementing an AI solution/idea in to your own professional or personal context.


What is iheed?

Course content

  1. Foundational concepts of AI and how it is transforming healthcare.

  2. Principles and frameworks to apply when evaluating the evidence of AI models and assess the validity of AI tools.

  3. Ethical and legal considerations surrounding the use of AI in healthcare, including consent, data privacy, bias and accountability.

  4. Application of AI in the early stages of the patient journey (prevention, prediction, diagnosis) and impacts on patient trust, compassion and outcomes.

  5. Application of AI in the later stages of the patient journey including personalisation, treatment, monitoring, end-of-life care, human factors.

  6. The broader context of AI in healthcare, including its use in public and global health, clinical trials, as well as the environmental and economic impacts

Entry requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (honours) from a recognised institution.

  • Evidence of proficiency in English (assessed at application, IELTS not required).

  • Must be working in the healthcare sector.

  • Must have unrestricted access to free versions of GenAI tools for the duration of the course.


Teaching and learning

Teaching

This part-time interactive programme will be provided through a delivery model that blends self-directed learning with faculty-led, team-based learning. Throughout the programme, students will engage with:

  • International and interprofessional faculty and fellow students

  • Rich and engaging online learning materials

  • Weekly online synchronous tutorials

  • Faculty-moderated discussion forums

  • Interactive case studies

  • Progressive exercises leading to an AI Implementation Proposal

Students will also have access to a range of medical journals and databases to support critical review of the evidence in this emerging field.
