Aims to

• Provide an understanding of the developing occlusion.

• Introduce the concept of interceptive treatment in the mixed dentition

• Provide an understanding of the use of functional appliances

• Introduce the concept that certain malocclusions need to develop further before active treatment is considered

• Provide group interactive learning in a structured manner and treatment planning
• Provide an opportunity for group interactive learning in a structured manner

Objectives

Following Day 6 dental surgeons should:

• Be aware of the different ways in which malocclusions develop and at different times
• Be able to assess when to treat and when to monitor in the mixed dentition
• Be aware of the different types of Orthodontic force systems especially functional appliances
• Be able to assess which systems are suitable in different clinical situations
