Aims and Learning Outcomes
You will gain a thorough theoretical grounding in the management of common presentations of musculoskeletal disease of the upper limb, through analysis and interpretation of evidence of effectiveness of diagnosis and initial treatment
Outcomes
- A thorough theoretical knowledge of the anatomy, pathophysiology of common disease affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, and the muscles, ligaments, tendons and other tissues of the upper limb
- A thorough knowledge of the epidemiology of upper limb pain
- A thorough knowledge of the diagnostic and treatment modalitites available for the management of upper limb pain
- A working knowledge of the clinical management protocols which are supported by evidence
- The ability to explain common upper limb musculoskeletal disease and its management
- The ability to communicate with other health care professionals to facilitate interdisciplinary teamworking
- The ability to use critical appraisal skills
- The ability to evaluate and use different sources of evidence appropriately
