Diabetes
More than 3 million people in the UK are known to have diabetes and there are an estimated 850,000 people in the UK who have diabetes but do not know it. Over three-quarters of people with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes courses at WMS aim to give GPs, hospital doctors, specialist nurses and other health professionals the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high quality care to people with diabetes. The education programmes provided by the University of Warwick can help to support nurses to fulfil the Integrated Career and Competency Framework for Diabetes nursing which has been established between the professional bodies representing nurses who work in diabetes care. Our Certificate in Diabetes Care is aimed at healthcare professionals working in primary care. The Management of Diabetes in Hospital and Clinical Areas course is aimed at healthcare professionals working in secondary care.
