Coventry & Warwickshire System-Led Clinical Leadership Programme

Coventry & Warwickshire ICB Clinical Executive have commissioned and developed a Multidisciplinary system leadership programme as part of the ICB’s Clinical and Care Professional Leadership (CCPL) initiative. The programme comprises six workshops over a 10 month period, which will be held at Warwick University Conference Centre, Scarman House, Coventry, between 1800h & 2100h, with evening refreshments and a supper provided, and (optional!) networking opportunity for half an hour before & after each meeting.

The faculty facilitating the programme will be a range of academic, clinical, NHS and expert colleagues, locally and regionally and nationally, who will provide a supportive, developmental, and challenging environment & perspective to help and encourage improved and innovative system working across our health and care system in Coventry & Warwickshire.

This programme is the second in a series of system leadership initiatives, and will bring you together as a cohort of 75 or so key senior leaders from health and care across Coventry & Warwickshire, and focussing on improved care and outcomes for patients, as well as improving the working environment for you and your clinical leadership colleagues.

A key component of this cycle of the programme will be exploring what a practical model of future systems level leadership looks like for Coventry and Warwickshire, identifying ways to begin fostering and implementing key leadership skills. This will be the principal outcome, focused on improved healthcare services, improved outcomes for patients, and saving lives.

Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. Staff may have been impacted by historical discrimination and whilst this may not be visible now, we are keen to ensure that this opportunity is one route to provide some equity. This is one reason of the reasons we are flexible and respect your organisational knowledge.

What are the aims of the programme?

The Clinical and Care Professional Leadership (CCPL) programme is a national programme aiming to develop and strengthen professional leadership in health and social care.

The aims of this System Leadership Development Programme are to:

  • Build on the work of the Darzi Review and the Government's 10 Year Health Plan, particularly the three big moves of Left Shift, Prevention and Technology.
  • Work successfully beyond organisational boundaries to bring about change for the benefit of the population.
  • Apply population health techniques and methodologies to drive service transformation and proactive integrated care models, including modelling our future healthcare system.
  • Act with integrity in an open, honest and inclusive manner.
  • Build strong relationships and communication skills, working with partners to develop a shared vision, joint priorities and plans.
  • Develop a readiness to take ownership of complex problems that could be perceived as being the responsibility of others in the system.

We hope that graduates of the programme will be better able to navigate the complexity of system and cross organisational working and be empowered to act more boldly and confidently to work in a system focused way.
