MB ChB - Year Three

In Year Three, you have the opportunity to select an area for in-depth enquiry. Depending on your interest, you could link your area of interest with the SSC option you chose in Year Two.

This will be accompanied by a structured programme of lectures, workshops and other learning activities, which will help you to gain a better understanding of scientific approaches in alignment with the GMC Outcomes for Graduates.

Integrated Care (IC) runs in parallel with SSC2 providing a mix of on campus days and clinical placement proving an opportunity to appreciate the longitudinal patient journey and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams across medical specialties, departments and allied professions, for the effective provision of patient care.

You will develop your understanding of inter-professional learning and of how key principles of basic science inform clinical understanding and practice. You will also look at patient care pathways from primary to secondary care to build on your knowledge and understanding of the patient experience and clinical needs.

You will have six Specialist Clinical Placements in Year Three and the remaining two in Year Four.

Each placement lasts six weeks and scheduling varies by student group.
