What work experience had you gained before starting the MB ChB programme?

Previously, I worked for a crisis line to answer calls about mental health. I also volunteered at a local hospital to help transport patients.

Why did you choose Warwick?

I chose Warwick because they were open and encouraging to people from non-science backgrounds. The course has a large cohort which is very supporting and the early exposure to clinical settings appealed to me.

How have you found the MB ChB so far?

I have loved studying Medicine at Warwick! The university is incredibly supportive, you can come to them about anything and they will make accommodations for you.

What has been your favourite part of the course?

The people. Everyone on the course is incredibly friendly and this has made me feel so comfortable and I've made lots of lifelong friends. There is a real sense of camaraderie with your peers as we are all going through a challenging course together.

Have you been involved in any societies or extracurricular activities?

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. I am part of art society which runs fun painting sessions and Teddy Bear Hospital to teach first aid to children. There is a big sports culture at the university which encourages you to stay fit and healthy

Do you have any ideas at this stage about what you’d like to specialise in?

I always thought I would do paediatrics, but maybe ophthalmology now as I am liking surgery.

Do you have any advice for people applying for this course?

If you are worried, Warwick looks for people who are well rounded and empathetic, so as long as you’ve got that, you’ll be okay!

Finally, what three words would you use to describe your experience of studying at WMS?

Enlightening, Fun, Challenging
