Structure of a model TiO2 photocatalytic interface

The interaction of water with surfaces and the interfacial structure is of crucial importance for a wide range of technologies (e.g. light harvesting, heterogeneous catalysis and corrosion control). We have determined the structure of a model photocatalytic interface combining scanning microscopies, surface diffraction and density functional theory calculation. The results will allow to explore at the atomic scale the mechanisms involved in TiO2 photocatalysis.
