Identifying the source of solar chromospheric jets
The origin of solar spicules and how the chromosphere is heated are often treated as separate problems. This work demonstrated that MHD waves driven from the photosphere can couple to shocks which both lift cold material forming spicules and simultaneously provide the heating required to balance radiative losses.
