Dear colleagues,

At the last research committee meeting, it has been suggested that RC organizes a briefing meeting on the compliance requirements by the research funders and the related issue of REF-compliance associated with open access publishing and open research data repositories. This meeting has now been organized for the department as follows:

Briefing session on Open Access, REF Open Access eligibility & Open Data, Lindsay Wood and Heather Lawler (library and WRAP), Monday, February 27^th, 13-15:00 in L4

Format: 1-hour formal briefing session and afterwards consultation/questions as group and with individual researchers

In preparation of the meeting, could colleagues please get back to Rudo if they have information on the following (which he will feedback to the library):

a) Are you already using specific, non-Warwick data repositories such as the RDA at ARCHER, a CERN repository, etc?

b) In your international research collaborations, who is responsible for curating data? You, your UK-based colleague or a non-UK-based colleague (and if so where are they based)? Who else?

c) What seem to be the main barriers for depositing your data?

d) Have you received a data compliance letter from any research council (and could you share it with us in preparation for the meeting)?

As part of the meeting, we are hoping to develop a briefing document for colleagues to use as guide to open access and open data in the future. The meeting is intended to all academic, contract research and postgraduate staff in the department.
