Export as iCalendar

Primary funder name: Royal Society

Closing date: 24 Sep 20

Full text: The Royal Society invites applications for the standard programme of its international exchanges scheme. This stimulates new collaborations within the natural sciences between scientists in the UK and overseas. The scheme covers the natural sciences including biological research, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics, but excluding clinical medicine. Funds may be used for a one-off short visit to explore opportunities for building lasting networks or for bilateral visits to strengthen emerging collaborations. Applications for collaborations with all countries outside the UK are accepted. Both the UK and partner country project leader must have completed a PhD or have extensive experience at an equivalent level, and hold a permanent or fixed-term contract for the duration of the award at an eligible organisation in their respective countries. Retired scientists who are still active in science must submit their application through an eligible UK institute. Ineligible organisations include industrial, private and commercial organisations, university spin-out companies and governmental bodies. Collaborations should be based on a single project. The following funding is available: •up to £3,000 for one-off travel lasting up to three months; •up to £6,000 for multiple visits to be completed within one year, including up to £1,500 for research expenses; •up to £12,000 for multiple visits to be completed within two years, including up to £3,000 for research expenses; •up to £12,000, supported by the Yusuf and Farida Hamied Foundation, for two-year projects with researchers in India supporting travel and subsistence costs, including up to £3,000 for research expenses.
