Export as iCalendar

Primary funder name: Royal Society

Closing date: 24 Sep 20

Full text: The Royal Society and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science invite applications for the cost-share programme of their international exchanges scheme. This stimulates new collaborations within the natural sciences between scientists in the UK and Japan through a one-off visit to explore opportunities for building lasting networks or bilateral visits to strengthen emerging collaborations. Eligible subjects covered include physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, engineering, agricultural, biological and medical research, geography and experimental psychology, but exclude clinical medicine. Collaborations should be based on a single project involving the UK based applicant and the Chinese co-applicant. Both applicants must have completed a PhD, or have equivalent experience, and must hold a permanent or fixed-term contract in an eligible organisation or research institute. They must be based in their respective countries and institutions at the time of application. Retired scientists who are still active in science may apply through an eligible UK institute. The participation of junior scientists, such as PhD students or postdoctoral researchers, is encouraged. The Royal Society provides up to £12,000 for the UK team’s airfare to Japan and their subsistence whilst in Japan. Up to £3,000 of this amount may be spent on research expenses and consumables. An additional £12,000 equivalent is available from JSPS towards the Japanese team’s airfare to the UK and subsistence whilst in the UK. Awards are available for a fixed period of two years.
