Full text: *** This opportunity will be available soon. The next call is expected to open in October 2020. The following information is subject to change. *** The Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 invites applications for its industrial design studentships. These aim to stimulate industrial design capability among UK engineering or science graduates who wish to develop their capabilities in industrial design and who aspire to becoming leading designers in British industry. Applicants must be UK residents who have a good first degree, typically in engineering or science, and have obtained admission to a suitable postgraduate course, normally in the UK, in industrial design or in engineering if wishing to complement a design-oriented first degree. They should also have recently graduated. The studentship covers all tuition fees up to the normal level for UK students, a stipend of £12,000 per year plus £3,000 London weighting where applicable, and an allowance worth £850 for materials. Some travel expenses may also be covered. Studentships are tenable for one year, but they may be renewed for a second year when necessary.
