Location
This one-day meeting will be held at the University of Warwick. Note that the university is located on the outskirts of Coventry and not in Warwick. It will be held in room A0.28 at Millburn House, in the science park. See Warwick's interactive campus map for details hereLink opens in a new window and the location on Google Maps. Note that the entrance from Kirby Corner Road is closed so Millburn House can only be accessed from Millburn Hill Road. Arriving at Millburn House
The diagram below shows the floor plan of Millburn House and the entrance which is needed to access the meeting room. All entrances and several internal doorways require ID card access. The entrance indicated is the one closest to the meeting room and the only one we will be actively monitoring for visitors. Some postgraduate students will be on duty from 10:30-11:30 to let you in and show you to the room. If you arrive late, or are having difficulty locating the correct entrance, you can ask some of our colleagues to direct you if you see them entering or leaving the building, or email E.R.Stanway@warwick.ac.uk to let us know you have arrived and we will let you in.
Details for methods of transport to campus are presented below.
Arriving by train
Although the closest train station to campus is Canley station (a 30 minute walk), there are no transport links from that station to campus. Also, that station is served only by just one train company (London Northwestern) up to just twice per hour in each direction. Instead, usually the best rail option is to arrive at Coventry station (not Warwick station).
Coventry station is served by 4 train companies (Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, West Midlands, and London Northwestern), and is located on the West Coast Main LineLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window -- connecting (among others) London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Coventry station also connects to the Cross Country RouteLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window (linking Aberdeen, Newcastle, York, Leeds, Sheffield, Derby, Bristol, Exeter and Penzance) through an easy transfer at Birmingham New Street station. Then, to get to campus, Coventry train station has excellent bus connections (see below) as well as taxis (£10-15, 10-20 min).
Arriving by (long-distance coach)
Coventry is served by both National ExpressLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window and MegabusLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window. The Coventry drop-off point for both companies is Coventry's main bus and coach hub, Pool Meadow Bus Station, located in the city centre. The buses cited below that run to campus from Coventry originate from Pool Meadow Bus Station and, on the way, stop at Coventry railway station.
Arriving by (local) bus
The campus is well-served by buses which operate through Coventry rail station and Coventry city centre. The price for a single ticket is typically £2.00-2.40 (both card and cash accepted, but drivers won't give change), and the trip duration varies significantly depending on traffic (10-30 min). The bus routes, with links to timetables, are the National Express 11Link opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window and 12XLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window. The 12X is faster as it takes a more direct route to central campus but will require a ~15 minute from the bus interchange, while the 11 route is longer and has stops closer to Millburn house. If taking the 11, there is a stop right outside Millburn House ('Westwood Campus' bus stop). Due to ongoing construction work, you will need to walk all the way around to get to the entrance (3-4 minutes). Otherwise, you can get off at the 'Lynchgate Rd' or 'Westwood Way' stops and walk over (also 3-4 minutes).
Arriving by car
Using the postcode CV4 7HS in your Sat Nav will take you to Millburn House directly, while CV4 7AL will take you to central campus. On approaches to Coventry, follow the signs to Warwick Arts Centre or the University of Warwick. Please note that parking on campus is controlled via ANPR and will require payment via mobile on entry or online without 24 hours of entry to car park.
Note that there is a limited number of car parking bays at Millburn House. Thus, we recommend that visitors park in the Kirby Corner multi-story car park. It is then approximately a 5 minute walk from there to Millburn House. In the rare event that this is full, the next nearest car park is car park 12Link opens in a new window. To walk to Millburn House, you will then need to use Millburn Hill Road as the entrance at Kirby Corner Road is closed.
