School Visits
We engage with schools by visiting them to support teaching and learning, and by arranging visits to the university. We work with a mixture of primary and secondary schools, including an offering for SEND at secondary level.
More information about what we do will be available here soon. In the meantime, if you would like to discuss availability please contact Ally Caldecote. Please note that we can get booked up quickly, especially around events such as British Science Week.
What we can offer to a primary school / I'm from a primary school, what do you offer?
We usually come out and visit primary schools and can offer assemblies to the whole school, or can run a lesson for a specific class. The choice is yours. We are happy to chat beforehand to check what subject area your students are currently working on so we can ensure your students are getting the best out of the session. We can cover sessions on liquids, solids and gases where we watch some liquid nitrogen sessions, magnetism, and a range of other topics including ultrasound.
What we can offer to a secondary school / I'm from a secondary school, what do you offer?
We welcome visits to the university by school groups where they get the opportunity to see what it's like to study at University, meet some of our staff and students, learn more about research areas and have tours of labs and get involved in some research and experiments. You may also want to get involved in OrbytsLink opens in a new window, which offers a chance to join in with active research projects. We can cover sessions on a range of topics linked to the curriculum, and have a hands-on experimental session which has been developed for SEND classes.
