Jamie Brambleby

I completed a masters in physics (MPhys) at Hertford College, University of Oxford in 2012. I am currently researching low dimensional molecular magnets, using high fields and pressures, supervised by Paul Goddard.

Research Interests

My primary research interest is investigating low dimensional magnetic sytems, by studying a class of materials called coordination polymers. These are self-assembling lattices of metal ions, where exchange between ions is mediated by organic molecules.

By controlling the building blocks that make up the coordination polymers, this project aims to determine the extent to which the magnetic properties of materials can be engineered. Coordination polymers are of particular interest because it is possible to create a large number of starting materials with different structures.

We measure magnetic properties in low and high fields, as well as using probes such as x-ray and neutron scattering to study the materials. Measurements will also be taken in high pressures to fine tune the lattice constants.
