For guidance, information, and advice on working safely in our laboratories please consult the Departmental Health and Safety web pagesLink opens in a new window. or the University Health Safety and Well-beingLink opens in a new window webpages. You must discuss your work with your Project Supervisor and complete a supervisor approved Risk Assessment. You must also consult the relevant Laboratory Head before starting work.
Risk Assessments for Superconductivity and Magnetism Group Members
All postdoctoral staff and postgraduate students in the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group should post their most up-to-date, supervisor approved, Risk Assessments here. These should include their Project Risk Assessment and any other Risk Assessments that are made for more specific tasks or work schedules. Please put the date in the box next you name to acknowledge that you have read and understood the current Covid-19 guidanceLink opens in a new window.

Risk Assessments for other Staff and Students
General Risk Assessments for working in our laboratories and brief details of the Laboratory Rules for each room are given below. Anyone using one or more of our group laboratories must:
- Make sure that you have read and understood all the general Physics Department Safety Information, and taken and passed any required safety tests (please see Training Required for each room in the table below).
- Complete a supervisor approved Risk Assessment for your work. Place a paper copy of the Risk Assessment in the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group Room Register (please see Martin Lees for further details). Both you and your Supervisor must sign and date the Room Register (download the form here) for each new set of activities.
Generic Laboratory Risk Assessments and Laboratory Rules for all Staff and Students
All students must complete the following generic training: How to do Risk AssessmentsLink opens in a new window. Project students must have viewed the Safety Presentation for Project StudentsLink opens in a new window. Additional required Training Modules are listed against each room.
