Prof. Alexander Smirnov
Biography
Alexander Smirnov is a Senior Scientist based at the P.L. Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems RAS, Moscow and Professor of the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology.
Professor Smirnov visited the Superconductivity and Magnetism Group in 2004-2005 on an EPSRC Visiting Fellowship. He helped to establish our ESR apparatus and worked with Oleg Petrenko on a number of projects centred around the physics of frustrated systems. These collaborative projects have continued after his return to his home institute in Moscow.
Research Interests
Low dimensional magnets, non linear spin dynamics of magnetically ordered crystals. Experimental studies of magnetic media by means of wide range magnetic resonance.
