Professor Emma MacPherson has been awarded an £8M project by EPSRC. The aim of the project is to develop robotic sensors which can be used to speed up the detection and removal of cancerous tumours.
We are recruiting a post-doc to join the Ultrafast and Terahertz Photonics Group at the University of Warwick to drive robotic aspects of the project forward. The successful applicant will work closely with the Robotics Team led by Professor Pietro Valdastri at the University of Leeds and also collaborate with clinicians at the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire.
The research goals will be to develop robotics for applying THz imaging and spectroscopy techniques to detection of skin cancer and other skin conditions. Particular focus will be on integrating THz image approaches with the KUKA surgical robot, and speeding up and improving the accuracy of terahertz data acquisition and analysis.
