Background

I completed my undergraduate studies at Wuhan University of Science and Technology, where I investigated the adsorption properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and studying lithium ion battery cathode materials using first principles calculations.

I then pursued my master’s studies at Peking University, focusing on the design and synthesis of electron transport materials (ETMs) for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), alongside device fabrication.

Prior to commencing my PhD, I worked for three years working in environmental, social and governance (ESG) roles in the banking sector.

Research

Mixed-halide perovskites (MHPs) offer tunable bandgaps, making them promising materials for tandem solar cells. However, light-induced segregation into iodide-rich and bromide-rich domains poses a challenge to their operational stability. My research focuses on understanding the kinetics and reversibility of this process, with the broader aim of identifying the factors that govern photostability in these materials.

My approach centres on the using spectroscopic techniques to probe light–matter interactions and track the evolution of the optoelectronic properties of mixed-halide perovskites under illumination. In particular, I examine how excitation conditions and illumination history influence segregation and remixing, and explore quantitative optical signatures that aid in characterising these processes. Through this work, I aim to clarify the mechanisms underlying light-induced halide redistribution, inform strategies for improving material stability, and explore how this phenomenon can be harnessed to enhance optoelectronic performance and enable new device functionalities.

Teaching

I am a demonstrator for the 1st-year undergraduate physics labs (PX151/152) during Term 2.
