Nurturing international relationships: CII visits WMG
WMG at University of Warwick was proud to welcome the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)Link opens in a new window last month.
Comprising over 20 representatives from some of India’s leading companies and education institutions, the Confederation was welcomed by Dean of WMG, Professor Robin Clark, before being introduced to Warwick by the University’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Stuart Croft. Talks and presentations by some of WMG’s leading academics followed, showcasing the depth and breadth of WMG’s diverse activities, plus its research and key strengths.

Next was a tour of the impressive Engineering Hall in WMG's International Manufacturing Centre, where innovative ideas by students and academics alike are brought to life.
Delegates were wowed by many of the Centre's projects, including an autonomous spring onion harvesting robotLink opens in a new window, designed to help solve increasing shortages in agricultural labour, increase crop yield, and prevent soil degradation.
A particular highlight was WMG’s 3xD driving simulator, which is one of the most advanced and adaptable of its kind. The simulator creates real-world environments and conditions to accelerate the testing of autonomous vehicles, ensuring they’re road-ready.
The CII's time at Warwick marked an exciting step forward in creating lasting partnerships between the Confederation’s members and WMG, which will help foster future industry-academia and academic-academia collaboration.
Professor Robin Clark, Dean of WMG, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Confederation of Indian Industry to WMG. We look forward to exploring new opportunities and partnerships in the future. Innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. By collaborating with some of India’s brightest minds, we hope to find global solutions to many of today’s challenges.”
The Confederation of Indian Industry is an industry-led and managed trade association that represents business interests across a range of sectors, including engineering and manufacturing.
Founded in 1895, the Confederation is the largest industry congress in India and serves to transform Indian industry’s engagement in national development through strategic global partnerships.
In 2023, it arranged for a delegation from the Indian Mission on Design and Advanced Technologies to visit WMG.
