How to use the job application tracking templates on MS Excel and Google Sheets
To use the job tracking Excel and Google sheets templates I provided to you at the end of this module Module 10- Videos and templatesLink opens in a new window, you would need to:
Step 1: Click the template link provided depending on if you are using Microsoft Excel or Google sheets.
Step 2: Create your own copy of the template and save it as “Your name- Job Application Tracking” on your own Google drive or computer/laptop.
Step 3: Fill in all the relevant information in the correct columns of each job you apply for.
Make sure you regularly update your sheet whenever you submit a new job application or if there is an update on any of the previous job applications you submitted.
You should have something that looks like this on the left on MS Excel and on the right on Google Sheets.
If you choose to use MS Excel version of the tracking sheet then you should follow the same steps found in Module 3 section 3.3.2Link opens in a new window. These are:
1- Select File option
2- Go to Download option
3- Select ‘ Microsoft Excel (.xslx)
It is also important to remember that sometime when using the Microsoft Excel version, you might not see the colours and that is ok, the template will still work well and in the same way just in black and white.
Another alternative to using a tracking table is to use online task management tools. There are many options out there, which include:
