Law School student Chiamaka Ithuoma, who is currently in her final year of our LLB 3 year Law degree, has been awarded the WAPCE Undergraduate Award for her work on the Cheylesmore Good Neighbours Project. The Warwick Awards for Public and Community Engagement (WAPCE) seek to recognise the vital contributions Warwick staff and students make in engaging the public in our learning and discovery and showcasing the role Warwick plays in making the world a better place.

WLS's Dr Ali Struthers has been awarded the WAPCE Award for Outstanding Public Engagement for her work on the School Tasking project. The Warwick Wows celebrate amazing work, projects, and achievements at the University. The Law School’s Dr Jane Bryan won the award along with her colleagues as part of the WorldCUR-BCUR team. A team who are helping to make Warwick a sector-leading centre of excellence for student research.

Congratulations to Dr Rajnaara Akhtar and Dr Ana Luisa Sores Peres who have gained Higher Education Academy recognition through the Warwick Academic and Professional Pathway for Experienced Staff (APP EXP). All HEA Fellows have, through their applications, demonstrated a personal commitment to learning and teaching in higher education.

The 2023 shortlist for the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) have been released and Warwick Law School has two nominations. With more than 115 excellent educators, teams, and communities to choose from, the WATE judging panels deliberated long and hard to identify those going through to the next round. Dr Tor Krever has been nominated for the Social Sciences Faculty award and PhD student Priscilla Vitoh has been nominated for a Postgraduates who Teach award. Congratulations and best of luck to both of them. The winners will be announced on 27 June 2023.

Professor Shaheen Ali was recently announced as one of the 75 notable British Pakistani academics, trainers and teachers for 2022/23 by the organisation UPSIGN. Congratulations Shaheen from everyone at the Law School for this incredible mark of achievement.

Dr Jane Bryan has won two National Mediation Awards. She was nominated for The Newcomer of the Year Award and the Innovation Award due to her work founding and leading Warwick Mediation, a peer mediation service for staff and students at Warwick.

Professor Jackie Hodgson and Dr Rachel Lewis have been awarded £30,000 to work with West Midlands Police (WMP) to translate the findings from their research on police community engagement through arts and culture, into changes in police training, policy and strategy.

Warwick Law School’s Dr Laura Lammasniemi has won the prestigious Indian Law Review Best Article Prize 2021 for a co-authored article called ‘Dadaji Bhikaji v Rukhmabai (1886) ILR 10 Bom 301: Rewriting Consent and Conjugal Relations in Colonial India'. The article was written for the Indian Feminist Judgments Project (IFJP).

Warwick Law School’s Dr Christine Schwöbel-Patel has taken up a prestigious Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for experienced researchers. For the next year, Christine will be based at the Humboldt University of Berlin, where she is working on the topic ‘Making States “Safe” for Investment: International Criminal Law and Imperial Rentier Capitalism’.
