Professor Celine Tan contributes to consultation on JET-IP

Professor Celine Tan from Warwick Law School contributed to the South Africa Presidential Climate Commission (PCC) Consultation on the Just Energy Transition Plan (JET-IP). The JET-IP is part of a multi-country funding initiative, the Just Economic Transition Partnership (JETP), by a coalition of developed countries to support a number of developing countries' transition away from dependence on coal and other fossil fuels.

Warwick Law School colleagues gain Higher Education Academy recognition

Congratulations to Dr Rajnaara Akhtar and Dr Ana Luisa Sores Peres who have gained Higher Education Academy recognition through the Warwick Academic and Professional Pathway for Experienced Staff (APP EXP). All HEA Fellows have, through their applications, demonstrated a personal commitment to learning and teaching in higher education.

Warwick Law School makes WATE Shortlist

The 2023 shortlist for the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) have been released and Warwick Law School has two nominations. With more than 115 excellent educators, teams, and communities to choose from, the WATE judging panels deliberated long and hard to identify those going through to the next round. Dr Tor Krever has been nominated for the Social Sciences Faculty award and PhD student Priscilla Vitoh has been nominated for a Postgraduates who Teach award. Congratulations and best of luck to both of them. The winners will be announced on 27 June 2023.

Ground-Breaking Report launched by Minister for Safeguarding at the House of Commons

On Monday 13 March 2023, Vanessa Munro and Lotte Young Andrade launched a report that they co-authored with Sarah Dangar (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) entitled ‘Learning Legacies: An Analysis of Domestic Homicide Reviews in Cases of Domestic Abuse Suicide’. The aim was to learn more about the profiles and experiences of victims, the adequacy of service responses during their lives and after their deaths, and the ways in which DHRs are commissioned and conducted in suicide cases.

WLS Research Fellows attend Roundtable on the social consequences of the War in Ukraine

On the 23 of February 2023, the British Academy brought together experts from various fields to discuss and analyse the social impact of the war in Ukraine, including its effect on communities, individuals, and social structures. New Book: 'Shakespeare's Strangers and English Law' by Professor Paul Raffield

Professor Paul Raffield's new book 'Shakespeare's Strangers and English Law' was published by Hart/Bloomsbury on 26 January 2023, his third sole-authored book on the subject of Shakespeare and the Law. Through analysis of five plays by Shakespeare (Measure for Measure, The Comedy of Errors, Troilus and Cressida, The Merchant of Venice, King Lear), Paul Raffield examines what it meant to be a ‘stranger’ to English law in the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean period.

Professor Twigg-Flesner hosted meeting of “From Smart Technologies to Smart Consumer Law” project team

On 23 and 24 January 2023, the project team of the AHRC/DfG-funded research project “From Smart Technologies to Smart Consumer Laws” held a working meeting at the University of Warwick. The project focuses on a range of consumer challenges created by the Internet of Things (IoT), which is characterised by a complex integration of physical and digital products and services, e.g., in the context of smart homes, connected vehicles or consumer wearables.
