European University Association Conference

EUA KoanWarwick is hosting the Annual Conference of the European University Association (EUA) on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 March 2012.

The EUA Annual Conference 2012 will bring together university leaders, researchers, students, policymakers and partner stakeholders to discuss the challenges related to the sustainability of Europe’s higher education institutions

This year’s Conference theme is The Sustainability of European Universities and will bring together 450 heads of universities from the UK and other European countries.

The conference will: engage university leaders in rethinking higher education models, to be sustainable in the 21st century, in a world of mass higher education and pressure on universities to perform competitive, high-end research; consider the impact of different initiatives and models; define the key tensions facing universities in rethinking the system and their own institutional strategies; identify the most important elements of ‘sustainability’ for individual universities and for the sector; and reach consensus on institutional, national and European strategies and action that can be implemented by individual universities to promote sustainable and successful European universities and address the challenges ahead.

Distinguished international speakers include Sir Richard Lambert, Chancellor of Warwick; Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, Chairman of the Warwick Manufacturing Group; George Soros, Chairman of Soros Fund Management, philanthropist; and Prof Tony Chan, President of Hong Kong University of Technology.

The EUA represents and supports higher education institutions in 47 countries, providing them with a unique forum to cooperate and keep abreast of the latest trends in higher education and research policies.
