Researchers recommend early walking in a brace for Achilles tendon rupture

A new study from the University of Warwick and the University of Oxford reveals a breakthrough for sportsmen and women in the treatment of Achilles tendon rupture. Researchers found that early walking in a brace provides similar outcomes to plaster casting with no increase in the risk of complications, paving the way for a big change in the way that patients are treated.


Online tool for carers demonstrated for Minister of State for Care

A new tool to help carers manage the daily challenges of life when caring for a friend or loved one has been presented to the Minister of State for Care at Westminster. Professor Jeremy Dale of the University of Warwick has met with Caroline Dinenage MP from the Department of Health and Social Care to demonstrate Care Companion, a new online support tool developed by Warwick Medical School to support people with caring responsibilities across Warwickshire and Coventry.

A collaboration between researchers at the University of Warwick and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine have found adding a barrier above a bednet can significantly improve the bednet’s performance, reduce the quantity of insecticide while expanding the range of insecticides that can be safely delivered via a bednet.
