Prospective students FAQ's

If you are planning to join a new course at Warwick, you are a prospective student.

Accommodation applications and bookings for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year are open. You can visit our apply webpage for further information.

Applying for accommodation on campus is a simple online process for students. There is no application fee to pay and you won’t need to pay a deposit to secure your accommodation.

Each year we publish specific application guidance when accommodation applications/bookings open. Please read the specific guidance available and application FAQs as the application/booking process differs depending on your student type i.e. undergraduate, postgraduate. Visit our apply webpage for further information.

We guarantee university-allocated accommodation for all eligible first year undergraduate students who meet the conditions and deadlines noted in our Allocation Principles. Our Allocation Principles are updated every academic year, so please ensure you read the applicable Allocation Principles prior to submitting your accommodation application.

Read our Allocation Principles for further details regarding our 2024/2025 accommodation guarantee.

At Warwick we understand that your accommodation needs may be influenced by your health or disability. If you have additional requirements, you should follow our specific accommodation requirements process to ensure you are supported by the relevant Wellbeing and Student Support Services team by the deadline noted in our allocation principles.

Yes. Let lengths are fixed and cannot be changed for full year students. You can find the let length for each residence at each residence webpage. For undergraduate students we offer mostly 35, 40 and 44 week let length options and for postgraduates we offer 40, 44 and 50 week let length options. It is important you understand that this will be the number of weeks you are signing a contract and you must pay rent for the duration of your contract let length.

If you are allocated to a 35 week let length you’ll need to move out for 5 weeks over the Easter vacation period. Should you need to stay on campus during this period, you can book vacation accommodation through the Student Information Centre.

If you are an incoming exchange student studying at Warwick for one or two terms via the Student Mobility team and you are allocated to a hall on campus, you will only be contracted to the terms you are enrolled here for.

Your rent is inclusive of all utility bills, Wi-Fi, contents insurance, access to laundry facilities, support and free events throughout the year available from our Residential Community Team and 24/7 support from the Community Safety Team. Depending on where you live, you may also have access to a variety of social spaces to enhance your experience living on campus.

You’ll find an itemised list of the things included in your room by exploring our campus residences.

We do not provide you with a television licence. Most of our bedrooms on campus do not include a television in the room. If you want to watch or stream live TV, the TV licensing authority requires you to have a licence. Please visit The TV Licensing websiteLink opens in a new window for more information.

Before signing an accommodation contract we would strongly advise to seek housing advice through the Warwick SU Advice Centre. The University's dedicated SU Advice team can offer valuable housing guidance and you can contact the team if you would like support or help looking for suitable accommodation.

If you are already studying at Warwick, you are a current student.

Yes. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students returning to study at Warwick after their first year are able to book a room on campus. Bookings are made on a first-come first-served basis for students who are not supported for specific accommodation requirements.

We usually open room bookings for returning undergraduate students towards the end of Term 1. Returning postgraduate students can usually book accommodation when our prospective student accommodation bookings open in Spring.

You can pay your accommodation fees through Flywire via your student record online account. You'll find information about when to pay, how to pay along with useful frequently asked questions at Warwick's Student Finance website .

Whilst most students are very happy once they move into their room on campus and meet their flatmates, there is the option to request a room transfer or direct room swap if you find you are struggling to settle in. We usually open our room transfer and direct room swap process a few weeks after our main arrivals period. Please bear in mind that room moves are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

You can find further information by visiting our Room Moves webpage.

If you're looking for useful information about the services or facilities available for students living on campus, it's likely that you will find the details on our Useful Information webpage. This webpage includes information about your contents insurance, campus contract, the University's post room service, laundry facilities and more.

If you are leaving your accommodation early, you must complete a campus departure form. You should bear in mind that completing a campus departure form does not release you from the obligations of your contract and you will still be liable to pay your accommodation fees in full.

You do have the option to try and find a suitable replacement student to take over your contract. We help students with a campus contract find a replacement by advertising student vacancies on our website to other Warwick students

If you would prefer to live off campus after your first year, you'll need to search for private accommodation off campus. You can find helpful information about how to search for private accommodation in the local area on our Living Off Campus webpage.

Whilst you can conduct your own search for private accommodation, Warwick Studentpad is an exclusive property search platform should you need a helping hand to find a suitable property.

We would strongly encourage you to seek housing advice from Warwick Students' Union. The SU Advice Team offer valuable guidance and can help you understand your contract before you sign.

If you have booked and signed a campus accommodation contract you are able to arrive within our four-day arrivals period from Thursday 21 September to Sunday 24 September 2023 (inclusive).

All students living on campus will need to complete our online accommodation induction prior to arriving. We usually send this to students by email in early September.

We encourage students to arrive during our four-day arrivals period as this is when the vast majority of students will be moving in, however it is possible to arrive after Sunday 24 September if you need to. Please bear in mind that Welcome Week begins from Monday 25 September.

All students living on campus must inform us of their travel arrangements. You’ll be able to confirm your travel arrangements when you complete our online accommodation induction.

Students travelling to campus by private car (not uber/taxi) will also need to book an arrival slot as part of the online accommodation induction. Arrivals slots will be available within the four-day arrivals period from Thursday 21 September to Sunday 24 September 2023 (inclusive).

You do not need to book an arrival slot if you are arriving after Sunday 24 September 2023.

Students travelling to campus from overseas will not need to book an arrivals slot, however you will still need to complete our online accommodation induction and inform us of your travel arrangements.

You can visit the Welcome to Warwick website for information about airport transfers and further guidance to help you plan your journey to the UK.

Unfortunately, students will not be able to move in before our arrivals period. You’ll need to arrange your own accommodation if you are arriving before Thursday 21 September 2023. There are a range of short-term accommodation options in the local area such as hotels and bed and breakfasts which may be available to book.

This information will be detailed in your arrival instructions which are usually downloaded after you complete our online accommodation induction and inform us of your travel arrangements.

Your arrival instructions will detail where you should go to collect your room key depending on when you plan to arrive to campus.

You will know your room number upon your arrival. Unfortunately, we cannot give you the room number before you arrive.

As we do not provide bedding in campus halls of residence, you’ll need to provide your own. Once you know which campus residence you have been allocated to, you can check your residence webpage to see what size bedding you’ll need. You'll be provided with a mattress and mattress cover, but you'll need to bring or buy your own pillow, pillowcase, duvet/blanket, duvet cover and bedsheet.

There are shops nearby campus that are open 24 hours a day where you could purchase bedding once you arrive. Alternatively, you can order bedding through UniKitOut. If you order through UniKitOut by 15 September your bedding will be in your room for when you arrive.

You can order kitchen, bedroom and bathroom packs through UniKitOut and your order will be in your room when you arrive. UniKitOut are rated excellent on Trustpilot, offer a 100% Money Back Guarantee and a Free Cancellation promise so rest assured you’re completely covered should any of your plans change. Use discount code WARWICK10 to save 10% on your kit order.

Students arriving during the main arrivals period from Thursday 21 September to Sunday 24 September should order by Friday 15 September to ensure we can arrange for your kit to be in your room ready for when you arrive. If you find your kit is not in your room on arrival, you can contact or visit your local residence hub.

Please be aware that only items ordered through UniKitOut will be delivered to your room ready for your arrival.

When moving to University, you might be tempted to arrive with everything you can think of. Once you know which campus residence you have been allocated to, you should view the specific inventory to understand what is already included in your kitchen, bedroom and bathroom by visiting your residence webpage prior to travelling to campus.

For helpful tips on items you may want to bring, including what you shouldn’t bring due to restrictions, visit the Welcome to Warwick website.

Please visit the Post Room website for information on ordering items before you arrive on campus. You must only order items to arrive on campus a maximum of two weeks before you expect to arrive due to limited storage space. Please also ensure you note the correct address on your items and follow the correct process if you are sending items yourself prior to your arrival.

If you have signed a campus accommodation contract, you'll usually need to pay your accommodation fees at the beginning of each term. You can find out useful information about when to pay and how to pay your accommodation fees by visiting the Warwick Student Finance website. There are also many useful frequently asked questions which we encourage you to read through if you need further information.
