HEAR: Specific Requirements - Additional Awards

The Additional Awards section refers to accredited performance in non-academic contexts measured/assesed by, or with external accreditation recognised by, the University.

Open Studies Certificates

Open Studies Certificates are open to all students and are run through the Centre for Lifelong learning. Certificates are worth 30 credits at FHEQ Level 4, the same academic level as the first year of an Undergraduate Degree.

To have an Open Studies Certificate recognised on your HEAR you must have:
  • Passed all three modules of the Open Studies Certificate (pass mark is 40% or above).

 

Introduction to Counselling

This is a 10 credit module taken through the Centre for Lifelong Learning and is taken at FHEQ Level 4, the same academic level as the first year of an Undergraduate Degree.

To have the Introduction to Counselling course recognised in the HEAR you must have:
  • Passed the Introduction to Counselling course (pass mark is 40% or above).

 

Recognition for courses taken with the Language Centre

The HEAR recognises students that have taken any language module provided by the Language Centre that does not carry academic credit. The level of a student’s attainment is measured against the Common European Framework. Further information is available here.

Students with language recognition have:
  • Attended a language course offered by the Language Centre
  • Met the required learning outcomes of that course
