For eligible scholars, the opportunity to apply for additional financial support towards the cost of immigration to the UK.
In order to be considered for this funding, applicants must demonstrate they:
Hold one of the following statuses as granted by the UK government:
You have sought asylum from the UK government (you are an asylum seeker) or were included as a dependent (spouse/child) on an application for asylum. Please note:Spouses/civil partners must have been the spouse/civil partner on the date on which the asylum application to the UK government was made. Children/step-children must have been aged under 18 on the date on which the asylum application to the UK government was made.
You have received a decision on your claim for asylum and hold one of the following statuses from the UK government:
Refugee Status(as a result of your asylum claim)
Humanitarian Protection(as a result of your asylum claim)
Limited Leave to Remain or Discretionary Leave to Remain(as a result of your asylum claim)
Some other form of temporary status(as a result of your asylum claim)
A one-off Research, Training and Supporting Grant (RTSG) of £5,000.
For eligible scholars, the opportunity to apply for financial support towards the cost of immigration to the UK.
Applicants must self-identify as being either Black or of Black heritage.
MWA Joint scholarships also include:
A maintenance stipend for 3.5 years. This will be paid at the prevailing UKRI rate for the years spent at Warwick, and in line with Australian government rates for the year spent at Monash
Travel allowance of £3,000 during the lifetime of the PhD
For eligible scholars, the opportunity to apply for financial support towards the cost of immigration to the UK.
We are offering up to 30 joint funded PhD scholarships in collaboration with China Scholarships Council.
China Scholarship Council-Warwick Joint scholarships also include:

a maintenance stipend at the prevailing CSC rate for 4 years.
return international airfare between the UK and China
From Warwick:
a stipend enhancement to the prevailing UKRI rate for 4 years.
Other CSC Scholarships
CSC operates a number of different scholarship schemes. Candidates who apply through CSC-direct routes, or transfer from other institutions, and not via our nomination process are not automatically allocated the University-funded elements described on this page.
Hold a Peoples Republic of China Passport (applicants from Hong Kong or Taiwan are not eligible) and either be permanently resident in China or studying overseas. Those working overseas are not eligible.
Where students have prior experience of studying overseas (including the UK) it is important to check eligibility rules on the China Scholarship Council website, this includes Current 1st year PhD students and those in year '1' of a 1+3.
Hold an unconditional* offer for a full time PhD at the University of Warwick commencing in October 2026 (Outstanding conditions accepted by CSC are; completion of a degree or obtaining ATAS clearance) OR;
Be in the first 12 months of enrolment of a PhD or MPhil/PhD at the University in October 2026.

How to Apply
We strongly advise preparing applications well in advance of the deadline, it is not usually possible to complete and submit an application in less than 36 hours.
Submit your scholarship application [opening 15 October 2025] and any required supporting documents by the scholarship application deadline. We regret being unable to accept late applications for any reason.
Results of the Scholarships will be communicated by email by the start of 23 February 2026.
