Car Parking Update for the Autumn Term 2019

There have been a number of changes to car parks over the last year, resulting in more spaces available across campus. Please visit here to familiarise yourself with availability of car parks and who can use them.

Permit-holders will now have received information by email with details on the changes that affect them directly. Please read on for a summary of these changes to parking across campus as we approach the Autumn term.

Real-time signage

Parking information signage is now fully installed across campus. The new signs will show real-time details of space availability on all highway approaches to campus and more details at the turn into individual car parks. Look out for the data appearing during September and please use the information to inform your drive to car parks.

New car park at Cryfield Village

A new car park for permit holders, flexi-pay scratchcard and pay and display users is nearing completion at Cryfield Village. It is due to open in late September.

Changes to the surface car park adjacent to the old Sports Centre

Remodelling work is currently underway to change the use of the car park adjacent to the old Sports Centre (car park 8a) on Central Campus, effectively splitting it into two separate car parks with restricted daytime use, from 1 October 2019, as follows:

 Reserved parking for external visitors

As you enter the car park adjacent to the old Sports Centre (car park 8a), the area to your left will be limited to pre-reserved external visitors only between 6am and 3pm, Monday to Friday. This replaces the reserved visitor location on the top floor of multi-storey car park 15 and will improve the arrival experience for those visitors. On arrival, visitors will be greeted and handed a permit to display by the Parking Marshal on duty. In addition, they will need to purchase and display a £2 visitor parking ticket from the Pay and Display machine. Staff can pre-reserve parking for external visitors.

New Short Stay (max 3 hours) parking on Central Campus

As you enter the car park adjacent to the old Sports Centre (car park 8a), the area to your right will be limited to 3 hours maximum stay during the daytime (Monday to Fridays between 6am and 6pm). This will help with non pre-reserved visitors and those staying only a short while to find a parking space. Valid blue badge bay users are exempt from the 3 hour restriction.

Parking permits will remain valid in this car park as proof of payment, but users MUST also obtain and display a free 3- hour ticket from the machine to show their arrival / maximum departure time. Non-permit holders MUST purchase and display a ticket for a 3 hour stay.

Tickets obtained from the machine in either side of the car park after 3pm will include evening use too, remaining valid until 6am the next day.

Car Parking price increases from 1 October
