E-resources Service Status
Issues with Library Search or e-resources will be posted here as we find out about them - if you are experiencing a problem which is not mentioned here please contact us.
E-resources Authentication Changes
The Library has updated the method for authenticating to Library e-resources. We are now using OpenAthens instead of Shibboleth and the Library proxy server. This will help to future proof Library authentication, provide more stable access and better functionality, and will allow more flexibility in the way that we provide access to our e-resources. All Library links to e-resources (e.g. via Library Search, Talis Aspire, etc.) have been updated to use OpenAthens. However, if you have direct links to Library e-resources which don't go via Library Search, Talis Aspire, etc. you may find these no longer work and if so you will need to manually update them. Please do contact the Library if you need support with this.
There is more information about accessing Library e-resources on our web pages.

Library E-resources Impacted by AWS Outage
21/10/2025 Update: We believe all of these issues have now been resolved. Please contact the Library if you continue to experience any problems.
20/10/2025, 11:45 Update: The issues with T&F and EBSCOhost appear to have been resolved by we are now aware of problems with Elsevier products (Science Direct, Scopus, Clinical Key, Reaxys). We have contacted Elsevier to ask them to investigate.
The Library is aware that a number of our e-resources (e-books, e-journals, databases, etc.) are being impacted by the current global outage for Amazon Web Services. We are aware that Taylor & Francis e-books and EBSCOhost are currently not working and there are likely to be other sites affected too. There is a notice about this issue on the University IT Status web pages.
