The importance of research integrity training

A key area that falls to the Research Governance and Ethics Committee is to provide institutional oversight regarding our compliance with the Concordat to support research integrity ‘Concordat’. This area may be subject to further regulation in the future following a recent parliamentary inquiry.

Training in research integrity and ethics is expected to be given greater prominence in the Concordat in the future. With this in mind, departments are strongly encouraged to participate in the Research Integrity online training that the University provides in this area. This training covers all major aspects of research integrity and includes discipline-specific courses tailored to researchers’ needs.

To complement this online provision, Professor Tom Sorell can provide face-to-face training to departments. This can be tailored to specific research groupings and will deliver advice on a range of research related ethical issues. If you are interested in learning more about the training, please contact Professor Sorell.
