Working effectively with your supervisor (T4R)

The supervisory relationship is fundamental to the success of your research project. This workshop explores strategies for working effectively with your supervisor, and considers what you might do if difficulties arise.

You will also have the opportunity to discuss matters with an experienced PhD supervisor.

By the end of the workshop you will have:

  • considered what you need from your supervisor and what your supervisor needs from you
  • considered how you relate to your supervisor and the conversations you need to have in order to work effectively together
  • explored how the relationship between supervisor and supervisee might evolve over time, and what you might do in situations where the relationship is unsatisfactory
  • reflected on how you might maximise the effectiveness of your relationship with your own supervisor(s).
