What made you sign up for the Warwick Award? What was the appeal?
The Warwick Award's emphasis on holistic development caught my attention. As an international student, I was eager to immerse myself in various activities, enhancing not only my academics but also my soft skills. This Award seemed like a pathway to achieve that as well as serving as a record for everything I'd done.
How have you managed to balance developing your skills through the Award with your studies?
It's been a challenge to balance my Accounting and Finance studies with the Warwick Award requirements but prioritising and planning ahead have been key. The Award itself encouraged time management, which has helped me stay on track and help me focus on both my studies and soft skills development.
Have you found the Award platform easy to use and manage your progress?
Since I have joined this from Pioneer Award, there have been several changes to the awards platform but yes, the Gradintelligence platform has been user-friendly and intuitive. It's been great to track my progress and discover new opportunities as the interface is simple and straightforward.
What are some activities you’ve completed that have contributed towards your Award progress? What sort of skills did they help you develop?
I've engaged in Warwick Malaysian Students Association, been a part of the Warwick Award's Student Advisory Group, done part-time work with student union, language classes and skills development activities such as the Carbon Literacy Certificate and Understanding Wellbeing, as well as several competitions such as the Sustainability Challenge.
Which of the 12 core skills at the heart of the Award do you think are the most important ones for students to develop?
I believe communication, critical thinking, and adaptability are most essential. These skills have been invaluable in both my academic and personal life.
How did it feel when you achieved the Gold Award?
Achieving the Gold Award felt like a culmination of hard work and personal growth. It was a validation of my efforts and a symbol of what I've gained at Warwick.
How useful do you think your achievements in the Warwick Award will be when you think about life after graduation?
I see the Warwick Award as a foundation for my future career. The skills I've developed will not only make me stand out to employers but also help me navigate the professional world.
What would you say to any new students who are thinking about signing up for the Award?
I would highly recommend the Warwick Award. It pushes you to step out of your comfort zone, opens doors to numerous opportunities, and moulds you into a well-rounded individual.
