You said, We did
Based on student consultation we concentrated our efforts in the following areas
Students told us
They do not have access to enough information when trying to make decisions about moving off campus after their first year and requested more information to support them living independently.
We found that
While internal Warwick pages and the Students’ Union’s provide helpful information, some content was less visible than it could be, and there were opportunities to enhance coverage in certain areas.
In response we
Created one central webpage ‘Living off-campus’ that could act as a signposting page to key information (where housed in different departments) and address additional areas raised by students.
Still to come
Whilst the layout and design was created by a recent graduate, and a lot of the content is either student written or student-informed, we recognise that there is a lot this page could offer students.
In the coming years we hope to adapt the pages, by every year brining in students over the summer to evaluate and adapt the pages. This could include things like:
- Student blogs and advice directly from students so they can hear from their peers
- Downloadable checklists for students to follow when making their transition
- Sense checking that what we have is suitable for students now, not just students 'then'
The details:
- Centrally located on the MyWarwick portal
- Signposts students to existing information provided by specialists such as Warwick Accommodation, Student Funding support, Warwick Transport and Warwick SU
- Offer further guidance such as Local area guides, managing housemates/bills/landlords and safety and support off-campus
- Allow students to feedback directly, so that the pages can be updated or amended based on student need (and to help support spotting broken/irrelevant links)
- Encourage students to engage with the page making suggestions for places and amenities they use themselves
- Interactive image (clickable) so students can self-identify what point they are at in their off-campus journey
- A page specifically dedicated for commuter students, based on advice and guidance shared by students themselves
