Transitions Co-Creation Officer

Team: Student Experience
Project: Student Transitions First to Second Year
Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating and note taking workshops (communication, signposting, facilitation, administration)
  • Summarising workshops (data insight, providing student voice, report writing)
  • Writing proposals for solutions to areas raised in the workshop

Compensation: Paid position, 5 hours per week, Warwick Award points (recognising employability skills)


How recruited: Departmental newsletters (where possible), Departmental Student Experience newsletter, screens on campus, Global Connections Community post, Student newsletter, Unitemps, outreach through professional services

Induction style: spread out over first 2 weeks- 2 introductory sessions to talk through the role, systems used and general training, a 2.5hr focus group training session

Lead on Induction: Student Transitions Project Lead (Co-Creation Officers Manager)


Support in role: Online training, recorded how-to's, focus group training, weekly team meeting, weekly drop-in for questions and help, optional reflection mentor (sits outside of main team)

Manager in role: Student Transitions Project Lead


Main Skills Developed in Role: Communication, Team Work, Organisational Awareness, Public Speaking (facilitating), Data (qualitative) Analysis, Problem Solving, Formal and compelling report writing, opportunities for public speaking.

How have you helped students to articulate those skills:

  • Weekly Reflections- designed to help students identify skills they've achieved and what they would like to work on
  • LinkedIn session- to help students identify how to showcase skills through the platform
  • Invitation to support and participate in different university conferences and workshops

How does the role involve 'creation'?

The Co-Creation Officers will input into how to run workshops, creating structures and systems for how to continue this work in similar projects in the future. Most importantly, co-creators will write proposals for areas raised in the workshops which will be turned into future projects- identifying where the University will be best placed to help better foster a sense of community and belonging for students moving from first to second year.

Student Inclusion Officer

Team: Dean of Students Office
Project: Inclusive Education- Personal Tutoring Resources
Responsibilities:

  • Creating training and resources for personal tutor training development (communication and content creation),
  • Providing insights and support for university-wide inclusion projects (administration, workshop participation and facilitation, research project support)
  • Delivering presentations at conferences (seeking and providing student voice and insights)
  • University event support e.g. Warwick Inclusion Conference (signposting, venue preparation and organisation).

Compensation: Paid position, up to 60 hours per contracted term


How recruited: Unitemps, shared on Teams channels, Warwick SU societies, Departmental newsletters (where possible)

Induction style: Informal group meeting (2hrs, in person). Project groups assigned through students personal interest.

Lead on Induction: Student Engagement Officer


Support in role: Monthly gatherings to deliver training on topics including project management and content creation, opportunities to meet key stakeholders, one-to-one training (ad-hoc, as requested), GoodCourse social inclusion training.

Manager in role: Student Engagement Officer, reports to Senior Projects Officer


Main Skills Developed in Role: communication, content creation (writing, presentations, digital content), teamwork, organisation and project management, stakeholder management, research and data analysis, public speaking (presentations and workshop facilitation), event support.


How have you helped students to articulate those skills:

  • Reflective log- designed to support students reflect on skills development by identify strengths and areas for improvement
  • Monthly group meeting- allow students to report on the progress of their projects, discuss any support needs and demonstrate skills development.
  • Invitation to contribute or deliver in University COnference events- to share lived experiences

How does the role involve 'creation'?
Student Inclusion Officers provide inclusive education projects with valuable insights both as current students and as individuals from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education. ‘Creation’ is literal with regards to leading on the development of staff training resources (e.g. for personal tutors) but also intrinsic as they collaborate closely with colleagues across the university who are actively working in the inclusive education space.

Sports Engagement Officer

Team: Warwick Sport
Project: Active Wellbeing- Active Programme
Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate our Rock Up and Play or Active League sessions
  • Support at Events throughout the year
  • Implement efficient planning for these sessions
  • Collect feedback from participants
  • Be the face of our active programme.
Compensation: once a number of hours are completed- will receive an activator t-shirt, sweatshirt, Moves+ points, discount off a membership at the hub, Warwick Award points, as well as support towards CPD opportunities

How recruited: Welcome Week, Warwick Sport Website, Student Newsletter, Sports Clubs, Warwick Sport Instagram and word of mouth through current activators.

Induction style: There is a 2-hour training session to go over the role, responsibilities, processes, and procedures involved with the role.Lead on Induction: Sport Engagement Officers, within the Active Wellbeing Team.

Support in role: support from Sports Engagement Officers, some sports allow for shadowing an activator initially.

Manager in role: Sport Engagement Officers, within the Active Wellbeing Team.


Main Skills Developed in Role: Effective Communication, Organisational Skills, Professionalism, Problem-Solving, Adaptability and Leadership skills.

How have you helped students to articulate those skills:

  • Reflective log- through Warwick Award to contribute to employability skills
  • Termly reflections
  • Additional CPD to uplevel their skills where needed

How does the role involve 'creation'?

Our activators are crucial, by providing us with insightful feedback from participants about how we can develop and grow our programme further. The activators provide new and creative ideas, on how to enhance student’s sense of belonging and to ensure everyone feels included. Our aim being, ‘You said, We Did’.
