Use of Assistive Software in Exams

Adjustment

Use of assistive technology

Why?

Some students with physical disabilities or multiple Specific Learning Differences may need to use specific hardware or software to answer exam questions because they cannot write or type the exams without technological assistance.

This is only implemented if this has already become an established way of working for the student and we are satisfied that use of other special arrangements would not provide an adequate like for like replacement.

Examples
  • Some students with physical disabilities or multiple Specific Learning differences may need to use voice recognition software to dictate their exams.
  • Blind or visually impaired students may use a specially adapted computer with magnification software, screen reading software or Braille keys.
