Student Feedback Survey in Term 3, 2024-2025: Results
The Student Feedback Survey is one of our regular large-scale student surveys undertaken in the first and third terms of every year, with 1,600 responses for Term 3 of the 2024/25 academic year.
The results
The survey included questions about support, connections, and awareness of and engagement with key SU services, alongside questions about attitudes towards AI, experiences of being a student and someone with caring responsibilities, and knowledge around Sustainability and Education. We have included key findings below:
- 89% of student respondents feel safe at university.
- 75% of student respondents feel they belong at Warwick, and 68% feel that they belong in their particular department. This follows a consistent pattern seen across SFS surveys run in Term 3.
- Students' sense of community through extra-curricular activities has increased year on year (compared to previous Term 3 results).
-
Respondents’ evaluation of their department remains consistent with patterns seen year on year, with scores indicating less satisfaction in Term 3 compared to Term 1.
- Year on year, there has been a significant improvement in those who agree they are worried about their finances (dropping from 58% in Term 1 to 47% in Term 3 this year).
Results have been shared with departments, outlining the survey results for their individual department.
Special topics
During this iteration of the survey, the topics of AI usage, caring responsibilities, and students’ understanding of Sustainable Development regarding their education were explored further with the following insights gained:
- 73% of respondents have used AI tools in some capacity, increasing from the numbers reported in Term 1. Respondents were most likely to use AI to enhance their understanding of difficult topics (67%), in their everyday life (60%), or in their academic life (59%).
- While 61% of respondents feel confident that they understand the University’s guidelines around the use of AI, 62% also think that to better support students, there should be clearer guidelines around the acceptable usage of AI in academic work.
- Around 9% of our respondents had some caring responsibilities. These carers were more likely to find that these responsibilities impacted their ability to juggle both their personal and academic responsibilities.
- Around two-thirds of respondents reported applying sustainability principles in their modules fewer than twice this academic year.
- While most recognise the importance of sustainability skills, respondents tend to view them as more relevant to their personal lifestyle (86%) than to their future career (79%) or current studies (68%).
