Thank you for sharing your views in the NSS 2024

Earlier this year, 4,177 final-year students completed the National Student Survey (NSS).

The results have been published nationally on 10 July, and we want to take this opportunity to say thank you for the valuable feedback you have shared through the survey. Your academic department will work through this feedback and discuss plans with your Course Reps to keep improving the student experience at Warwick.

Today, we are sharing the headline results from the NSS. We will be completing an in-depth analysis over the summer and will share more detailed information in the coming months.

Overall results

At Warwick, our results are positive overall. Through your feedback, we know that 86% of you would recommend Warwick as a place to study.

As a result of your feedback, Warwick has scored above the sector benchmark in six of the seven key areas, including teaching, learning opportunities, academic support, organisation and management, learning resources, and student voice. We rank second for student voice across the Russell Group, and rank in the top five in the Russell Group across all question themes.

We know that overall, you have been particularly pleased with your learning resources (91%), academic support (89%), and the teaching on your course (88%). It’s great to hear that you have valued your expert teachers and have felt supported during your studies.

Through the student voice positivity score (78%), we can see that you are satisfied with the opportunities provided to share your feedback and we will continue to work together with you, the Students’ Union and your other Student Representatives to keep the dialogue going. In the year ahead, we will make sure you continue to have lots of opportunities to share your views, from Student Feedback Surveys, to dedicated Postgraduate surveys and the Student Panel.

You have also let us know where there is some room for improvement including by ensuring that marking criteria are clear and that the feedback you receive helps you improve your work. We will be working on sharing how we act on the feedback you have provided about your course so that we can keep improving in these areas.

Next steps

We are looking forward to working through the rest of the feedback in the survey. Your department will review responses to the survey, including the many helpful comments on what is going well and what needs to change to further improve the learning experience in the year ahead.

If you’re returning next year, you’ll hear more about the changes we will make. Many of you will be contributing to new developments through Student Staff Liaison Committees (SSLCs) or by feeding into other projects. You can also speak to your Course Rep and Students’ Union Officers if you have ideas for improving your course or a service provided by the University. You can also put yourself forward to fill an academic representation role in the next academic year – keep your eyes peeled for updates and nomination opportunities in your student newsletter and SU newsletter.

For those of you who have already made a difference through representation and participation opportunities: thank you!
