Demonstrations on campus

Latest update: Tuesday 18 June

Following our update on Saturday 15 June, the WMG IDL building remains unavailable to work or study in, until further notice. Students can still make use of the many other study spaces available across campus.

Previous updates:

The WMG IDL building is not available to work or study in. This follows an occupation of the building by Warwick Stands with Palestine – who state they are a coalition of students and staff. Demonstrators entered IDL on Saturday morning ahead of a planned Open Day.

Like many Universities across the UK and the world, we have had an encampment on campus related to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The University is managing this demonstration in line with its legal duty to protect freedom of speech. Free speech will be vigorously protected at Warwick, as long as discourse is occurring within a framework of law, respect, and safety. The situation is being monitored and reviewed. Please contact the Community Safety team if you have any safety and security concerns.

Universities are bastions of critical thinking and open dialogue, where free speech is vigorously protected. However, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and any form of abuse, incitement, or harassment which is targeted at an individual or group is not acceptable. We encourage any incidents to be reported promptly via our Report + Support service.Link opens in a new window
