Warm weather advice
The Met Office has issued a Red Weather Warning for 'Extreme heat' this week on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June.
If you are on campus, make use of our indoor spaces, including study spaces and air-conditioned buildings, and remember to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water refill stations are available in buildings across campus.
The UK Government has published general adviceLink opens in a new window on how to stay safe and well during the heatwave, which includes:
- Try to avoid direct sunlight, especially between 11am and 3pm when UV levels are highest
- If you are going out during this time, cover up with suitable clothing, wear a hat and sunglasses, seek shade, apply sunscreen liberally and re-apply frequently
- Drink plenty of water
- Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun
- Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstrokeLink opens in a new window and what to do if you or someone else has them
