Studying the MA by Research in Hispanic Studies, you will receive expert supervision while developing your research techniques. Warwick's Modern Languages and Cultures emphasises a transnational vision of the networks of cultural history, memory, literature and identity that crisscross the Hispanic world.

Before you arrive, you will be matched to one or more of our expert supervisors and during the course. You will meet with them frequently for guidance on the conceptualisation, research and writing of your Dissertation. This will include reading and discussion of draft material.

You will also be expected to participate in the research culture of the School, for example by attending research seminars.

  • Modern and Contemporary Hispanic and Portuguese Literatures and Cultures
  • 19th century Spanish Literature and Culture and its Relations to Colonialism
  • Regional Spanish Cultures, especially Galicia
  • The Caribbean, especially intersections between Hispanophone, Anglophone and Francophone cultures
  • Diaspora, Cultural Identity and Cultural Exchange
  • Digital Approaches to Humanities Research
  • Aspects of Hispanic Visual and Musical Cultures
  • Spanish and Latin American cinema
  • 16th and 17th century Spanish literature and culture
  • Classical and Italian influences on the Spanish Golden Age
