An MSc by research provides an opportunity for you to spend one year full-time (two years part-time) independently conducting scientific research in an area in which you wish to specialise. You will need to identify and secure the support an academic willing to supervise you. Together with your supervisor you’ll agree your research project topic and aims.

Assessment is conducted by an extended piece of written work known as a thesis and oral examination. All students will also have access to a programme of transferrable and research skills training.
