Studying International Management (BSc) encourages a wide range of relevant, highly transferable and sought-after skills. These help to prepare you for the challenges you will face after university; everything from a career in a multinational corporation to starting and running your own business.
Course overview
This course gives you the opportunity to study or work abroad as part of your degree, while gaining a broad knowledge of business and management. The international element will help develop your ability to operate across cultural boundaries and embrace different perspectives.
You will also have the flexibility to follow either a generalist route in business and management to keep your career options open or specialise in your chosen field by following one of our recognised Pathways in Finance, Digital Innovation, Entrepreneurship or Marketing. You will spend a year learning abroad, with a study placement at one of our partner institutions in countries such as China, Singapore, Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, France, Italy and Spain. Alternatively, you may choose to work overseas. Previously our students have completed work placements with companies such as IBM, Clarins, Peugeot, L'Oréal and Colgate-Palmolive. You will also attend a seminar in Term Two at an appropriate location near to where you are studying or working.
Course structure
We have partnered with over 50 institutions in over 20 countries around the world for your year abroad. Current partnerships are offered in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, North America, Russia, Singapore, South Korea and various countries across Europe.
In your fourth year you will return to WBS to complete your studies, confident and empowered by your overseas experience.
You can tailor your degree towards your career aspirations by selecting elective modules from WBS and other University of Warwick departments. This provides the opportunity to specialise in a particular area or to take a broader approach to your studies.
Year One
Seven core modules, choose one option from Business Analytics, Digital Ventures, or Management of Global Risks.
Year Two
Three core modules and five optional modules.
Year Three
Year Abroad.
Year Four
Two core modules and five optional modules.
How will I learn?
You will learn in a variety of ways – primarily through a mixture of lectures, seminars, workshops and online learning.
Contact hours
This varies by year but you will have approximately 12-15 hours per week of class time, plus student support and feedback hours.
Class size
Class sizes vary by module: there can be up to 500 students in lectures (mainly Year One) and then around 25 in seminars. Some electives are much smaller.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a combination of examinations and on-going assessments, which may include essays, research assignments, projects, case study analysis, class tests, presentations and group work. The final degree classification is determined by your second, third and final year marks which contribute 40%, 10% and 50% respectively.
Study abroad
You will spend a year learning abroad, with a guaranteed study placement at one of our partner institutions in countries such as China, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, France, Italy and Spain. Alternatively, you may choose to work overseas. Previously our students have completed work placements with companies such as IBM, Clarins, Peugeot, L’Oreal and Colgate-Palmolive.

IB:

- We welcome applications from students taking BTECs alongside one or two A levels.
- You will also need a GCSE grade A/grade 7 in Mathematics and GCSE grade A/grade 7 in at least one humanities or social science subject.

Contextual data and differential offers
Warwick may make differential offers to students in a number of circumstances. These include students participating in the Realising Opportunities programme, or who meet two of the contextual data criteria. Differential offers will be one or two grades below Warwick’s standard offer (to a minimum of BBB).

Additional course costs
There may be costs associated with other items or services such as academic texts, course notes, and trips associated with your course. Students who choose to complete a work placement or study abroad will pay reduced tuition fees for their third year.
