Accessibility
Please find accessibility information for your visit below. If you have any specific access or support requirements on the day (e.g. assistance on campus tours, directions to lifts or toilets, help with doors, a position near the front of a lecture theatre, etc) please ask any member of our Student Ambassador (yellow and red polos) and Staff teams (blue polos) who will be happy to help. Alternatively, you can contact us on opendays at warwick dot ac dot uk to make arrangements in advance.
There will be relaxed paced tours, see below for more details, and a quiet space available in the Chaplaincy with bean bags and space to relax.
Our Wellbeing Support and Disability Services team will also be present at the Information Fair in the Rootes Building if you have questions about accessibility and the support offered to students with disabilities at the University.
Accessible Parking
We have a large number of Blue Badge parking bays on campus. Blue Badge Holders and visitors with specific accessibility requirements will need to register for a campus parking space when booking for an Open Day visit. If you need to add accessible parking after you have completed your booking, please email us at opendays at warwick dot ac dot uk. Please note these spaces cannot be booked in advance.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome. There are several dog pens on campus, the most central for the Open Day being behind the Library building, outside the University House rear entrance and opposite the Bluebell 2 residence.
Changing Places
The University of Warwick is leading the way by having 6 Changing PlacesLink opens in a new window facilities across our campuses and is one of only a few Universities to have any, promoting independence and choice for disabled people with complex needs. Please speak to a Student Ambassador or member of staff on the day if you need help finding a Changing Place Toilet.
Hearing Impairments
If you wish to sit at the front of a venue to see and hear the speaker more clearly, please arrive at the session venue 15 minutes before the session is due to begin and ask the Student Ambassador on the door to seat you at the front. If you have any other specific access requirements, please ask the Student Ambassador before the session begins.
Induction Loops
Find more advice for hearing impaired students
Some of our rooms use a magnetic induction loop that can be used with compatible hearing aids, but many rooms now use an infra-red system that requires a specific headset. We can provide these on request - please email us at opendays at warwick dot ac dot uk to request a headset.
British Sign Language Interpreters
We can arrange for a BSL Interpreter to accompany you on the day if required. Interpreters are hired from outside the University, so please let us know as soon as possible so that we can find an interpreter with availability. Please email us at opendays at warwick dot ac dot uk to request this service.
Peak Times
Open Days are very busy events, with up to 9,000 people visiting the campus during the day. Our peak times for arrival are between 9am - 12pm, and visitors usually start leaving campus around 2pm. Arriving for the afternoon may provide a less busy experience.
Relaxed Pace Campus Tours
Campus Tours run from 9:15am - 4.00pm in groups of up to 15. They normally last around 45 minutes and cover approx. 1km of our central campus area.
We offer relaxed pace campus tours from 2pm - 4pm run by groups of two or more Student Ambassadors, which may offer a better experience if you have a mobility impairment, require breaks along the tour, prefer smaller group sizes or have a hearing impairment.

Venue Access
The University campus is generally accessible to wheelchair users and people with mobility impairments. There is a steep gradient on the pathway and road between the Main Campus and Gibbet Hill Campus where Biological Sciences and Warwick Medical School are located, but the rest of the campus is fairly flat. Some routes to the Library are also quite steep, please ask our student ambassadors to direct you via a more accessible route.
Lift access
The teaching buildings hosting talks and drop-in sessions have lift access to all floors in use.
Unfortunately we do not have any wheelchairs available to hire on site.
Assistance on the day
If you require assistance with doors or lifts or you need directions, please ask a member of our team for help. They will be wearing blue (Staff), red (Senior Ambassador) or yellow (Student Ambassador) polo shirt uniforms.
