Hi there, my name's James and I've just been re-elected as President of this Society for my 2nd year! I had started my Gold D of E before I came to Warwick and I only had the expedition section left, and I completed both my expeditions last year with the society. I recently collected my Gold D of E Award from Prince Edward at St. James' Palace.
Our society is open to anyone, whether you haven't heard of the award, are already started or have completed Gold. The award is a great way to boost your CV, try new things and meet great people! Alexis Sofianos

Hey everyone! It was 6 years ago, when I started my Bronze at school in Cyprus. I soon completed the Bronze, Silver and Gold and was so excited about the award, that I went on and took part in an award's leader course. Ever since I have been deeply involved with the award and met a lot of people from other countries. I was given many opportunities and really want to help new and even existing members of the D of E society to make the best out of the award as well! A few years ago, I had the chance to take part in a camp in Finland, where I had the opportunity to meet participants from other cultures and share ideas and experiences with them. Also, before coming to UK for my studies, I was a member of the Cyprus Award Panel that had the responsibility for overseeing the Award in Cyprus. Most people think that D of E is just about hiking, but as you can see, there is a lot more to that and I will do my best to help you explore the award in its full depth.

Hi, I’m Sophie and I’m secretary this year. Having done my Bronze and Silver Awards while being at school, I ‘m completing my Gold Award here at Warwick and already really enjoying it. I’m really looking forward to the expedition with the other members of the society, as well as going on the hikes and other events with the Society this year. I can’t wait to meet all the new members of the society, and working hard to make the Society even better. The Award is so fun: it’s a great way to meet people and widen your interests, as well as go on walks throughout the year, so join in!

Hi! I am Sukrita and this is my second year as Treasurer! Being an international student, I've always wanted to do my Duke of Edinburgh award and joining the gold award through the society was the perfect start. Through the award I have managed to do some really exciting things at University from learning a new language, winning dance competitions and being chased by sheep (expeditions are the coolest!) The award is an incredible way to further your skills learn new ones and meet some fantastic people.
It's (very) inexpensive, rewarding and loads of fun! So join in. NOW!

Hi! I’m Ryan; I started the Gold award before coming to Warwick and have been offered amazing opportunities with it, including expeditions to the Pyrenees, Lake and Peak district, plus some memorable moments! DofE in general, and especially the Gold award, is a great way to show employers that you are not just academically confident, but that you can learn new skills, persevere and work with new teams to achieve a demanding goal. While the award is challenging, some of the best friends I have made are from expeditions and the support you get from the society will help you immensely to complete the award.
So any question you have, be it about the expedition, kit or anything DofE related don’t be afraid to ask!

Tom Hall

Hi all, I'm Tom. Although I finished my gold four years ago the experience it gave me has lasted well and since then I've been on expeditions up and down the country. Before university I helped to train people at all levels of the award, as well as assisting on expeditions. I've spent a lot of time in the great outdoors, so if you ever have a question on absolutely anything related to expeditions I will happily help you out. I look forward to meeting you all, as the people are really what makes DofE special!

Hi, I'm Scott, and I'm this year's IT & Publicity Officer. D of E was one of the first societies I joined when I arrived at Warwick this year. I had been wanting to do the Award for several years, so I was excited to get started. I've loved being involved with the society. It has given me the opportunity to meet many like-minded people, and allowed me to explore lots of new places, something which I otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to do.

Iain Carson

Hi, I’m Iain, the Social Secretary. I have been involved in the DofE for a very long time now, at various places, and have formally received the Bronze Award. Yet, being Social Sec, I take the Society a bit less seriously than some others. To be honest, my main love of the society is just for the night hikes and the random strolls around the area. Of course, reaching the pub or restaurant at the end is also an important thing for me. As a society member, you can look forwards to hearing about events of all kinds, from great outdoors activities to just going somewhere and having a good meal.
