Biomedical Visualisations and Society
A series of free workshops for early-career researchers
Aims
- To critically explore the social and political implications of biomedical imaging
- To gain technical knowledge of visualisation
- To foster collaboration and networking between early-career researchers
Each workshop will focus on a particular technology of visualisation, highlighting issues of significance to social science and encouraging wide-ranging discussion. There will be an opportunity to experience the focal technology and gain insight into its technical and clinical use.
Keynote speakers:
Kelly Joyce (College of William and Mary), Lisa M. Mitchell (University of Victoria), Rachel Prentice (Cornell University) and Maryon McDonald (University of Cambridge).
Who are the workshops for?
The workshops are for early-career researchers (usually PhD students or postdoctoral researchers) with an interest in the theme. You are welcome to attend just one workshop or the whole series.
Registration is free and limited funding is available to cover travel and accommodation for researchers travelling within Europe.

The workshop series is now complete. A number of resources are now available online including: briefing papers from all the workshops, a collaborative bibliography of biomedical visualisations and society, participants' reflections, and podcasts.
