Head of Unit, Social Science and Systems in Health
Our research unit employs research methods from social science, ethics and from systems science for understanding the health care system: how it works and how it could be improved, its impact on society and on social perceptions of health.
We undertake critical social science, ethics and systems research, and provide methodological support for intervention evaluation in the Division of Health Sciences. Current research led by members of the Unit includes studies on the impact of the use of digital communication between clinicians and patients, ethical and social considerations in difficult clinical decisions such as not giving cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, patient safety, rehabilitation for cancer patients and the development of a spinal immobiliser.
