I join with the rest of the country in mourning the loss of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

As the longest serving British monarch, The Queen leaves behind a legacy of unwavering public service. In my role as Vice-Chancellor and a Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands, I find her dedication to serving her people to be a source of inspiration.

Her patronages and charities aimed to serve people from all walks of life, and she set the example of what compassion for people looks like.

My thoughts are with the Royal Family at what is undoubtedly a very difficult time.

This is a time of great sadness across our country. Her Majesty, the Queen has been a constant presence for so many of us – through times of challenge, through times of difficulty and through times of joy and celebration. Hers has been a life of dedicated and committed service to her people and to her country and, through her lengthy reign, she has be steadfast to her duty. The sense of loss is palpable, here at Warwick and nationwide, but will be most keenly felt by family and close friends and I send my deepest sympathies to them all at this most difficult of times. But we should also be thankful for a life lived well and a life lived long; we should be thankful for all that she has done for our country, for the Commonwealth and beyond and we should remember to celebrate the life and work of a truly remarkable woman.

I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Il. Her Majesty lived a life of unfailing and inspiring service to the country and to the Commonwealth. For me, as a former senior civil servant, she set the standard for public service and for integrity and morality in public life. She was a unifying force in society, reminding us that there are so many more things that unite than divide us. We shall not see her like again. I send my deepest condolences to His Majesty the King and to the whole Royal Family.

I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathies to The Royal Family following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty, The Queen.

The Queen has been a constant, steadying presence since her coronation in 1952. It is remarkable to think of how society has transformed over the years of her reign, and I find it especially moving to think of how many more people benefit from receiving a university education today than at the start of her reign.

Throughout it all, she worked hard to change our world for the better, and I know the sense of loss will be felt throughout the country including here at Warwick.

My thoughts are with the Royal Family and the people in the UK and across all the Commonwealth countries. As a Hong Konger, we truly appreciate what Her Majesty had done to Hong Kong - under her rule, we enjoyed an unprecedented level of freedom and economical success, which the current administration can compare nowhere near.

She signified the best times in modern British (and Hong Kong) history, and we all have a lot to learn from her, especially how she tackles challenges with great calmness and extraordinary diplomatic skills. I and many Hong Kongers will definitely miss her.

I attended Warwick October 2011-June 2014, and graduated with a BA Hons 2:1 in Modern History.

I remember well, some of the prominent themes from one of my Second year modules; 'Britain in 20th Century'.

The Queen was a constant source of reassurance during some trying times for our country - both in the previous century, and this one. Not least, during the recent Coronavirus pandemic.

She was an embodiment of the values that make us proud to be British. Loyalty, diplomacy, and the determination to do right for her country and her people.

Rest in peace Your Majesty. You will be remembered for your remarkable reign, and admirable approach to all your duties.

This is a moment of great sadness for us all and the sense of loss will be felt throughout the many realms and lands she visited. From my childhood I always dreamed to see England, London, Buckingham palace and of course to study in the UK. As a kid of former Soviet Union country, for the most of children of Kazakhstan to see London was something impossible. However I always believed that someday I would visit London and see the Buckingham palace not on the picture but in real life. I dreamed to visit London, learn English and study there and be a part of UK society. My first English book started with picture of HM Queen Elizabeth II and words "London is the capital of Great Britain" that picture and those words I will never forget. For me, HM Queen is the symbol of Great country and as graduate of Warwick University I am proud to be a small part of this Great country. Her Majesty the Queen was the epitome of duty and the living embodiment of our nation. It is easy to see why her generation were called the greatest generation. There will never be anyone like her again. I was fortunate enough to see the Queen when she annually visited my home town for the Epsom Derby Horserace. I also received a reply for a letter I sent to the Queen during the pandemic. These are some of my proudest memories. Her Majesty has an enormous legacy, one which will live on beyond our lifetimes. The Queen was a constant source of comfort and stability. She reminded us to take pause and love our neighbours. She championed many noble causes, such as environmental protection, peace and religious tolerance. She held this country together. No monarch has done more to make us proud to be British. Her death is a profound and painful loss to us all. All we can do is cherish her memory. My deepest condolences go to her family. May she rest in peace, and may God Save the King!

It is a sad day for much of the world, as the Queen's passing brings the end to an unrivalled era of rule. Not only those of her lands, but many across the world will mourn and remember just how much good all those under her governance have achieved in seventy years. So much has changed since her coronation, which stands as a testament for what we as a people can continue to achieve in the face of ever present struggles and threats. In her memory and the hope posed by the accession of The King, we find an ourselves in a new stage of this country's existence, in which we must double down on our commitment to fighting for the good and beauty of this world, as to not let the struggle of our ancestors be in vain.

The Queen is dead. Long live The King.

I was just ten years old when I was privileged to witness the Queen's Coronation on a 12-inch black-and-white TV set bought for the occasion in 1953. Perhaps for this reason I have always felt a particular affection for Her Majesty, a feeling that grew into respect and subsequently admiration as her reign unfolded. Her death is felt particularly keenly by those of my generation, I think, and I convey my deepest sympathy to King Charles and his wider family whose own feelings will be more profound than anyone else can know. It will be some comfort and consolation, I hope, for them to know that Her Majesty was regarded by her subjects with both affection and a most profound respect.

May her soul rest in eternal peace. I pray for King Charles III and the rest of the Royal Family. May our Lord God grant them the grace to endure this great loss.

In such period of grief and sorrow I wish the King Charles III to be strong as not only his family but the whole nations will rely on him. I would like to express my great sadness at hearing of the Queen's passing.

Earlier I never considered myself a royalist but over the years I've come to deeply appreciate and respect the traditions and history of the Monarchy. The Queen was the symbol of real majesty, taking up one's duty with grace and without resentment, with a warm smile but without the emotional overload that has come to characterise the newer generations. A true lady. Her death has marked the real end of an era, where morality and setting an example for others were striven for and cherished.

My sincere condolences to Her Majesty's beloved Nation.

Thank you ma'am, for everything.

I was very sad to hear this. I was on holiday in Salisbury when it happened. Ironically I had been to an evening service at Salisbury Cathedral and one of the lines in the service was, “God save the Queen”. I went to a pub afterwards and I saw the news on the tv in there. I was shocked and could have gotten quite emotional. There was a very subdued atmosphere in the pub. Earlier that week I had been on a guided tour and seen the crest of her namesake, Queen Elizabeth I, in St Thomas's church (see attachment). My father was doing national service in the Royal Artillery during her coronation in 1952 and was part of the support team who fired the salute in Hyde Park. The thing about Her Majesty was that she represented constancy, with dignity and decorum, in a rapidly changing (and not always for the better) world. Hopefully, His Majesty can continue in a similar vein (I think that the support will be there for him). Good luck to all of us and to the late Queen and the new King in particular.

Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Our Beloved Mom and Queen,

You set a great example for us and you remain a great inspiration to me. I had a great sense of admiration and hope in your leadership over the years since the traces of my knowledge of your person from the history of your milestone visits to Ghana in 1961 and 1999, my love for videos and news items of Royal Ceremonies and during my time of studies in England at the University of Warwick.

You are certainly my adorable-firm-moral compass of Leadership, Motherhood, Service, Dedication and Great Wisdom. You will be forever missed, death has done us part but your meaningful life here on earth gives me faith and hope in the resurrection. God loves you and will grant you a warm embrace and a peaceful resting place.

Farewell and in loving memory,

I was shocked when I learnt yesterday of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Her contribution to the United Kingdom is incalculable, and her reputation is world-renowned. I still remember her speech when she is 21 aged birthday that 'I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.'

She did it, she persisted in her position until the last day of her life for the glory of the British Empire.

Coming from one of the Commonwealth countries in South East Asia, I still hold vivid memories of the late HMTQ's visit to my hometown during my younger school days back then. She was very beautiful, gracious and ever polite to everyone wherever she went. May God bless her soul.

Queen Elizabeth II will go down in History as a beacon of stability and a perennial source of comfort for her subjects during her reign, the longest ever in the history of the United Kingdom. She embraced fully what Providence had reserved for her, and excelled in the fulfillment of the noble mission she embraced wholeheartedly. The British people should feel forever privileged for having had her as their Queen, if only because, whilst Her Majesty is mourned like a dear grandmother by her countrymen, other peoples, less fortunate, are tormented by rulers who choose to act rather as fiend than a friend to many of their co-nationals. She will be remembered for the unceasing enthusiasm with which she performed her duties, thus turning the verses that England´s foremost writer used to describe his Motherland into a perfect definition of herself and the feelings she inspired on her subjects: “model to thy inward greatness, like little body with a mighty heart”.

'My whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service' - The Queen

She would never look away from this pledge that she made at 25. She knew when to get in the way and when to get out of the way - to always think about what she would do next. She was smart, beautiful, and made it very clear to all the brilliant men around her that SHE was The Queen and they were not the king. She showed all women how strong they could be and she did this for a whopping 70 years!!! An epoch has passed - 70 years, 15 prime ministers, and ONE QUEEN. A TRUE AMBASSADOR, who symbolised the best for her nation, even in her twilight years as a nonagenarian. She inspired me and many others, and was an unforgettable woman. She leaves a HUGE VOID. You will be missed, Your Majesty. May you Rest in Peace

I am saddened to hear of the demise of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty the Queen devoted her entire life to the service of the nation, living up to the pledge she had made when she took over the reins of the throne. Her zeal and commitment to the service of the nation were exemplary.

She made history not only as one of the longest monarchs but as one of the most intelligent one. Speaking at the LSE to the economists in 2008, she asked how no one had seen the possibility of the financial crisis erupting.

I have a profound and deep respect for Her Majesty The Queen. She is a giant of 20th and 21st Century British history. She was a rock of constitutional stability during a time of seismic political and social change. The Queen's stoicism, her sense of duty and her relentless consistency are admirable qualities, and they have been an asset to the UK for over 70 years.

Her personal commitment to the Commonwealth is also admirable. Nelson Mandela's decision to take South Africa into the Commonwealth in 1994 speaks to the fact that it is an important, modern coming together of nations, not simply a relic of post-Empire.

The UK has many problems and many changes need to be made. Abolishing the monarchy is not one of them. It is an anachronism, but it contains and absorbs many contradictions about Britain, and may even be a safeguard against the authoritarian demagoguery seen in other countries, from the USA to Russia, from Brazil to Hungary.

"Thank you, Ma'am. For everything."

Sunt lacrimae rerum et mentem mortalia tangunt./solue metus; feret haec aliquam tibi fama salutem.

I pledged the oath on the Queen some years ago in admiration of her dignity, life-long service and humility. She epitomized these Islands as a branch of a common European tree, fostering reconciliation wherever she could: an ever-fixéd mark that looked on tempests and was rarely shaken. In 2010 she highlighted Climate Change as one of the most pressing issues. In 2011 she aptly cited this proverb: “We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love. And then we return home.“

Thinking of her last night, Jessye Norman's Purcell came to my mind. Dido: When I am laid in earth, /May my wrongs create/No trouble in thy breast;/Remember me, but ah! forget my fate. CHORUS: With drooping wings you Cupids come/To scatter roses on her tomb. Soft and Gentle as her Heart /keep here your watch, and never part.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II lived her life of duty and service faithfully to the end. She was and still is an example of faithful duty and service to us all. May Her late Majesty live in the eternal love of God the Father for evermore 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for establishing a well-balanced legislative and judiciary system in HK before and starting up other facilities etc that all helped to turn a small fishing village into a metropolitan city. The Mid-Autumn Festival (similar to Valentine's day but also a family gathering festival) is coming up in HK and hope Her late Majesty can meet Prince Phillip in heaven again.

I offer my deepest condolences to the Royal family, their friends and the Commonwealth for their immense loss. During her long reign her Majesty served with dignity, grace and vision whilst never losing her sense of humour, delighting us with her Olympic 2012 performance and her recent tea with Paddington. She promoted a wonderful set of values which she lived by and which we should endeavour to emulate in her memory. Her legacy to the world is beyond compare. My thoughts are with her family at this sad time for us all.

Elizabeth:

'The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.' (Buckingham Palace)

The Union Jack flails at half mast,
The now seems a second slower.
She has overseen our collective past,
We are all so lucky to have known her.

She stood tall with her body weak,
Though her gentle voice may no longer trill.
Heads held downcast, all feeling meek,
She overlooks us from the highest hill.

Though her beaming smile radiates no more,
We wage war with the grief we feel,
Wiping away the tears that pour:
Britain is a family and together we heal.

I wish she had more time to share with us,
And now that she lays down to rest,
In our newfound King we may trust,
With such a noble son we are all blessed.

Dear King Charles and Queen Camilla and Royal Family members,

It is with much sadness I learnt of the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth the Great. There was no other monarch like her, so gracious, so wise and patient, would that we could all be like her. We have lost the nations' greatest treasure, a shining hope and inspiration for others, in times of darkness. She will always be noted as the young girl, who was called back from Kenya, and then so effortlessly, despite the loss of her father, stepped into a role, to lead a nation and Commonwealth for decades. Such bravery and courage the world has never seen. Everyone she met loved her and made time for everyone. She will always be our much loved Queen Elizabeth. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you and your family at this time. We will pray for you.

A servant always,

Sanchia Goonewardene and family

I think for the multiple generations of us who have only ever experienced life under her reign, we massively underestimated how much Her Majesty's image and constant presence formed a part of our every day lives and, by extension, an aspect of our identities. It is only now that change has come that we are realising the scale of the loss and, perhaps, that we took her constant presence for granted.

I feel she learned so much of how she conducted herself as a monarch from her father; two people who were never supposed to be monarchs who became humble, personable and accessible leaders. How lucky we are, I feel, to have lived during her reign and such a significant period in our country's history.

Thank you, Your Majesty, for your lifetime of service.

It is a time which we will only see once in our lifetime, the ending of the second Elizabethan era. Her Majesty The Queen was an inspiration to many around the world with her kindness, leadership and tenacity. Our family would like to offer our deepest condolences to the Royal family. My mother watched the Coronation on a new TV which her father had just purchased in 1952. She also recalls watching the Queen’s wedding to Philip. In particular, she remembers that they were a happy family, and her father, The King, was a very sincere person. We should all aspire to follow in her example, as we reflect on her memory, and her lifetime of achievements. Our thoughts are with the Royal family at this time. May she rest in peace.

I experienced deep sadness & shock on learning about the death of the Queen. The Queen was our refuge in times of national and international emergency. Her loss will be greatly felt by all who came to depend on her to express what we all feel in times of national crisis, and to offer support to those meeting the challenge.

I have a special regard for the Royal Family and pride that my Great Uncle E. Stanley Roper became Kings Organist at chapels Royal until his death in 1953. He played at the funeral of the late King George VI. Had he lived, it is likely he would have played at Elizabeth's coronation.

My wife and I have visited Sandringham in order to pay our respects and were greatly moved to witness the astonishing carpet of flowers around the Norwich Gate.

It feels like I personally have lost a member of my family, even though I did not know her personally, she has always been Queen. I recall as a child waiting patiently to get a glimpse of her, has she passed in her car when she toured the UK to celebrate the Silver jubilee. Its only now I appreciate what a commitment that must have been to travel 1000 of miles around the UK. I read her quote own quote about grief being the price of love. The grief I am feeling now makes me realise how much I loved her. She will be missed.

I was born and living in a autocratic country where the leaders are nominally 'presidents elected by people' but actually dictators who abuse their powers for their own sakes at the cost of the dignity and rights of their citizens. That is why I admire the queen so much who had been indeed devoting herself to serving the UK by sacrificing her freedom and power since her age of 25. She was not only a symbol of the UK, the Commonwealth but a witness and vivid proof of the progress of democracy. Her legacy shall inspire everyone, especially those who are still ruled and trembled by authoritarians and dictators. May she rest in peace.

God bless Her Majesty the Queen, her family, and all her subjects in the wake of her death. It is the end of an era.

As we all become Elizabethans, we should look back on Her Majesty's reign fondly and we should try to exhibit those virtues which she so well exhibited for all her many years in honour of her memory. The world will never quite be the same again as when our beloved monarch sat upon the throne; she will be sorely missed.

May she be remembered with charity for her character and her devotion to her lands and peoples, their customs and traditions: for what she achieved in troubled times rather than for the ills of the times that were thrown upon her. That she may rest in peace with her beloved husband, Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the equally long serving and duty-bound rock of our nation's rock, her Majesty.

This is indeed the end of another remarkable Elizabethan Era...

I think, like Elizabeth Tudor (1558 - 1603) whose brilliance and ebullience earned her the sobriquet "Gloriana, The Faerie Queene"; our Elizabeth Windsor (1952 - 2022), through her unwavering dedication and long years of dutiful service has also earned the name "Gloriana, Elizabeth The Great!" 🙌🏽

Rest in Peace Ma'am, Elizabeth Regina! May your tribe increase!👑

Queen Elizabeth II was thrust into the role of Head of State at a young age in the midst of the shock of losing her father unexpectedly. The post-war world was on its knees and, rightly so, the British Empire was dismantling. She rose to the challenge of carrying Britain into the next era, and the strength of the Commonwealth today is in no small part due to the confidence that she instilled in world leaders regarding the possibility of friendship in a post-colonial world. That the Commonwealth exists must be credited to her in no small part. As she grew into the role of Queen alongside those of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was stoic, constant and patriotic. Certainly there were difficult times, but what I remember today is a woman who fulfilled her duty to the final hour with grace and good humour. May she rest in perfect peace.
