University of the Year runner-up overall
The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 ranks us 9th in the list of the UK’s top universities, looking at factors spanning entry requirements to graduate employability, to help students make informed decisions about their higher education.
In 2022 we were announced as University of the Year Runner-Up in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide.

9th in the UK
The Guardian: One of the UK's top 10 universities
The University of Warwick has been named as one of the UK’s top 10 universities in the Guardian University Guide 2024, placing 9th.
Warwick was also rated as first amongst the Russell Group for Student Voice and for Assessment and Feedback. We also ranked amongst the top five institutions in the Russell Group for Academic Support, Learning Opportunities, Teaching and Organisation and Management.
The Guardian rank universities through eight different scores, which form a total out of 100. These include what students say about their teaching, feedback and the course itself in the annual National Student Survey. Times Higher Education: 14th in the UK
The Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2024 has named the University of Warwick as one of the UK’s leading universities. Warwick is 14th in the UK and 106th in the world.
The rankings are informed by data submitted by more than 1,700 institutions. The performance indicators that make up each University rank are:
- Teaching
- Research
- Knowledge transfer
- International outlook

Complete University Guide (CUG) 2025: 10th in the UK
The Complete University Guide aims to offer independent UK university rankings, course information and expert advice for every student.
The data for these rankings comes from the public domain. The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) – the official agency for the collection of measurable information about the universities – supplied data for:
- Entry standards
- Student-staff ratios
- Spending on academic services
- Facilities spending
- Graduate prospects
- Degree completion
- International student enrolments

QS World University Rankings 2025: One of UK's top 10 and Europe's top 20 universities
Warwick is ranked 69th in the world – making Warwick one of Europe’s top 20 universities.
This year’s QS World University Rankings feature over 1,500 universities across Europe, Asia and the North America.
They evaluate universities according to the following six metrics:
- Academic Reputation
- Employer Reputation
- Faculty/Student Ratio
- Citations per faculty
- International Faculty Ratio
- International Student Ratio

Top in the UK for Teaching Quality
Our exceptional academics earned Warwick the title of University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022.
The award recognised the strong student endorsement of our Covid-19 response, expressed through the positive National Student Survey (NSS) results.

Teaching Excellence Framework:
Warwick rated 'Gold' across the board
The University of Warwick has been awarded Gold in all categories in the government’s latest Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) rankings.
Warwick received the highest ranking available in all three areas: student experience, student outcomes, and overall. TEF assessors found that most student experience and student outcomes were of “outstanding quality”, including for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
The TEF is the system through which the government assesses universities’ teaching quality, and its panel comprises academics, students, education experts and employers.

The Times and Sunday Times:
University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2022
We were named as the University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022. We were also named runner-up for University of the Year overall. The guide, which placed Warwick 8th in the UK overall, cited the University's success in the 2021 National Student Survey (NSS) and its response to the Covid 19 pandemic as key reasons for its achievements in the awards.

We are the 6th most targeted university by the UK’s top 100 graduate employers (The Graduate Market in 2024, High Fliers Research Ltd.)
The Graduate Market in 2024 is a study of the latest graduate vacancies and starting salaries at the UK’s one hundred best-known and most successful employers, conducted by High Fliers Research during January 2024.

We are committed to research that is internationally recognised, with impact and purpose.
This approach saw us ranked 7th overall among the UK’s top research universities in the most recent national assessment of research excellence.
92% of our research
REF 2021: 92% of our research is world-leading or internationally excellent.
The REF (Research Excellence Framework) is the UK’s system for assessing the quality of research in the country’s higher education institutions. Expert panels made up of senior academics, international members, and research users review submissions from universities every seven years.
In the most recent REF results – announced in May 2022 - a remarkable 50% of our submitted research was awarded the highest possible rating of ‘world leading’ (4 stars). A further 42% is ‘internationally excellent’ (3 stars).
Submissions are assessed on the quality of outputs, such as publications, performances, and exhibitions, their impact beyond academia, and the environment that supports research. Each of these receives a star rating, with four star ‘world-leading’ being the highest.
Our reputation as a global research centre of excellence is matched by our outstanding teaching credentials – we were also named as University of the Year for Teaching Quality by the Sunday Times’ Good University Guide 2022.

National Student Survey: high student satisfaction among Warwick students
In the 2022 National Student Survey (NSS), a nationwide survey of final year students, Warwick has been placed third in the Russell Group for Overall Satisfaction.. Warwick also ranked first within the Russell Group for Student Voice and Assessment and Feedback.
The survey asks students in their final years to provide feedback on their courses in a nationally recognised format. There are 27 core questions, relating to the following aspects of the student experience:
- Teaching on my course
- Learning opportunities
- Assessment and feedback
- Academic support
- Organisation and management
- Learning resources
- Learning community
- Student voice
- Overall Satisfaction

Coventry is the 5th Best Student City in the UK, and 40th in the world (Best Student Cities, QS World University Guide 2023).

Times Higher Education: One of the world's Most International universities
The University of Warwick has been named as one of the world’s top 20 Most International universities by the Times Higher Education (THE) – ranked 20th overall and 10th in the UK.
Their World University Rankings 2021 include more than 1,500 universities across 93 countries and regions, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date. The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
This year’s ranking analysed more than 80 million citations across over 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22,000 scholars globally.
